From time to time, the writers for the Fresh Ink page throw in a heavy topic and I was lucky enough to get to illustrate this one on the Darfurian conflict.

Oh, wow, that's really cool that you got to do an illustration for a topic as heavy as the conflict in Darfur right now. It's a really great painting, too- the simplicity makes it all the more impacting. I like how the space between the dripping mud/blood skull and the african landscape makes the contour of a gun.

Thank you! I'm glad you like it. It was difficult at first to find decent symbols without it getting cluttered.
